I think that's normal to some extent.

Teenagers are people who are discovering themselves. They are going through development. So, they see their friends as equals, instead of seeing their parents as equal. Which is completely normal. Since they know  their friends are going through the same situation as them. On other hand, their parents are going through a totally different path on life at the moment.
